AWARD-WINNING FINE DINING RESTAURANT LES FOUGÈRES

True Institution In Chelsea

Chelsea is really blessed because we have very good tables that are second to none in the major urban centres. Les Fougères restaurant is one of them and has been delighting food lovers on both sides of the Ottawa River since 1993. Charles Part and his wife Jennifer have made it a true institution in Chelsea, thanks in part to their store, adjacent to the dining room, where you can buy fine groceries, but also dishes made by them, prepared in their artisanal kitchen, and frozen. These are the dishes that we offer at the B&B for those who want to dine on site.

Wonderful Rediscovery

But let's go back to the restaurant and the dining room. Bruno and I rediscovered Les Fougères one evening in late August 2019 and loved the experience. We were installed on the outside gallery overlooking the flowered garden and the evening was very pleasant. The beauty of the presentation of the dishes, the service and the wine list made us want to go back.

Our Second Visit

That's what we did one Sunday night in February. We were seated near the large windows overlooking the same garden, this time covered with snow and nicely lit. I took the table d'hôte and once again I had a wonderful meal. The parsnip soup was delicious and creamy and just rightly seasoned. The salad that followed was the best salad I've ever had in my life! Arugula, goat cheese, bacon, dressing. Simple, but so tasty. If I could order it as a main course, I think I would do so on my next visit...

Delectable Plates

The main course was also tasty. Bruno ordered veal sweetbreads and I ordered the Bouche du St-Laurent plate which includes, among other things, ravioli stuffed with salted cod. A real treat! Finally, I let myself be tempted by a dessert and I took the chocolate and Scottish caramel crème brûlée. Wow! There wasn't any left!

We Can't Get Enough

So you won't be surprised to learn that we went back the following week, just before the restaurants closed. And for the first few weeks of confinement, we enjoyed their frozen food. A feast every time!

The next time you visit the region, treat yourself to a meal at Les Fougères restaurant. For those who want to explore the fine vintages of the establishment, we offer a shuttle service. :-)
